The problem I have is my dataset does not show new catalogs yet. So my questions are just not as pointed. The difficulty is probably more in the creation for a simple job.
I understand the process: create parts - create assemblies - create dg walls - create df components
easy
It is the mechanics that are awkward. Inthis day and age of WYSIWYG it would be nice if you have a dialog that took you through the steps. How mnay times do I read in the forum "I cant open my catalog". And you have to selt that "button no 5" to edit the catalog.
The process of working in a catalog and creating new ones and new items is like wordperfect 1987 before windows.
SOLUTION:
Dialog pops up
two options - create part - create assembly
OPTION ONE:
Create your part - when finished the dialog asks - "Do you wnat to make this a single wall"
No - you create another part or do something else
Yes - I takes your part "steel" and creates a wall named "steel" and opens the dialog for placement of a wall
when you edit this dialog it saves the input (the last one us use or as the final default) as the current default
Then Done
OPTION TWO:
Create your assembly - when finished the dialog asks - "Do you wnat to make this a DG Wall Assembly"
No - you create another assemblyor do something else
Yes - I takes your assembly "cmu_insul_brick" and creates a wall named "cmu_insul_brick" and opens the dialog for placement of a DG Wall Assembly
when you edit this dialog it saves the input (the last one us use or as the final default) as the current default
Then Done
If you need to edit the optiosn for a door you have another dialog:
DGWALL:
1.Do you want to edit the Master Template for Wall variables
2. Do you want to edit specific DGWALL? Select wall from list - by selection or right click wall for this
DGWALLASSEMBLY:
1.Do you want to edit the Master Template for DGASSEMBLIES
2. Do you want to edit specific DGASSEMBLIES? Select wall from list - by selection or right click wall for this
Here you would again get a dialog we already have but without all the other stuff. Just straight to the point.
This would be the proper catalog editor
