Channels with Lips are not available in the STAAD.Pro aluminum database. Since you mentioned that you want STAAD not only to analyze but also to design these sections, the only workaround would be to find an equivalent section from the existing aluminum database in STAAD which may have similar properties and use that to model these sections. If you cannot find an existing that is close enough, you may add a section to the existing aluminum section database using options Tools > Browse/Modify Section Database > Aluminum and add a section in the appropriate shape table. Please ensure that you maintain the same nomenclature that is being used for other sections in that database. For example your cross section dimensions may be different but you need to use “CS” at the beginning if you are trying to add it as a Aluminum Channel section.
