1> Want to know how SQL-Server can be more helpful than MS-ACCESS in Bentley application for Piping?
SQl is made to allow multiplue user access to a single database while Access is not. SQL will also scale better with the amount of data used in the project.
From AutoPLANT readme.
Note: The AutoPLANT Plant Design Workgroup applications are only supported on a Microsoft Access database in a single user, non-networked environment. For a multi-user, server based project environment, SQL Server or ORACLE® must be deployed.
2> How we can use SQL Server for creating SpecGen instead of MS-Access? , please let me know the step/procedure/Link to create SpecGen in SQL-Server.
SQL databases can be used to store specs instead of access. Because multiple users only read from AutoPLANT specs not write SQL is not required to be used with multi user project. Steps to add specs to a database are available in Project Administrator help files. In Project Administrator go to Project>System>Main; this is where spec can be uploaded to a database.
3> What is the exact limitation of "project size" for MS-ACCESS,SQL-Server and Oracle? , means want to know exact size of project, so that according to our project size , we can go / think for SQL-Server or other database.
There is no size limitation on the database it can be several gigs in size.
4> How, we can create/set different user's login access as per their permission level in SQL-Server?
Users need DB Owner privileges to the database.
5> I am creating crystal report for various reports , then How to use "i-model Driver for Crystal Reports"?
Please consult the iWare group at communities.bentley.com/.../343263.aspx for help with that product. I would suggest using the built in crystal reports in AutoPLANT to pull data.
6> We are updating our PC to new High-level workstation having Win7 - 64Bit,then Is Bentley (Piping+Prostructure+Equipment V8i(SELECTseries 4)) will be compatibile with Autocad 2012 - Standalone/Network License or we have to go for any lower version of Autocad?
AutoPLANT SS3 and SS4 both have 64bit compatible versions. They will both work with AutoCAD 2012 64bit full version. License type does not matter for AutoPLANT to run on AutoCAD.
