Hi Jan, You are correct in the function of the variable, I was going by how I used it. In the MicroStation V8i SS releases it would default to the most recent version of DWG supported. Opening earlier versions of DWG files upgraded the file to the REAL DWG version MicroStation was using. Hence, you would need to set the variable to downgrade the version of REAL DWG being used to save it in the earlier release. After a little more testing in MicroStation CE I have to agree that I don't think the variable is valid any longer. When opening different versions of DWG files in MicroStation CE the title bar displays the version of the DWG. After editing and saving the file it remains in this version.

Forum Post: RE: Extreme Deflections from Possible Beam Releases
The structure did not have any lateral stability in the Z direction as the column bases were pinned. So the supports were changed from PINNED to FIXED. Also for the beams 3 and 5, you cannot apply MZ releases at the ends of these members, where these members meet the columns, because these beams are essentially cantilevers from the columns. Similarly you cannot apply MZ releases at the start of members 4 and 6. I have also changed the full MZ releases at the other ends of these members to partial releases as otherwise you would end up getting instability warnings at the nodes like 3, 4 etc about MZ. The displacements are now realistic values. However you may still want to check if these displacements are acceptable or not. A modified file is attached for your reference communities.bentley.com/.../Heat-Exchanger-Rigging-Structure_5F00_rev.std

Wiki Page: Installation options for OpenBuildings Designer
Product(s): OpenBuildings Designer Version(s): CONNECT Edition Environment: N/A Area: General Subarea: Installation Beginning with CONNECT Edition Update 5, the Bentley product "AECOsim Building Designer" has been rebranded as "OpenBuildings Designer". While this change will be obvious by the name of the installer itself as well as the application's title bar, it also changes the underlying folder structure at both the \Program Files\ and Program Data\ level. The recommended process for upgrading your existing AECOsim Building Designer CONNECT Edition installation to OpenBuildings Designer CONNECT Edition is to: 1. From Control Panel > Programs and Features, uninstall your existing version of AECOsim Building Designer CONNECT Edition. 2. Once the uninstall is complete: a. Browse to C:\Program Files\Bentley\ and delete the remaining \AECOsim CONNECT Edition folder. b. Browse to your AECOsim Building Designer workspace, by default located at C:\ProgramData\Bentley\AECOsim CONNECT Edition\, and rename the existing \Configuration folder to \”Configuration_Update4” or similar. This will retain all of your existing customizations and content. 3. Install OpenBuildings Designer Update 5. By first uninstalling AECOsim Building Designer, the new Update 5 installation will be located under C:\Program Files\Bentley\OpenBuildingsDesigner\: And because you previously renamed your \Configuration folder, Update 5 will install its Datasets and Workspaces under C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenBuildingsDesigner\Configuration\. If you do choose to update an existing installation of AECOsim CONNECT Edition instead, the update process itself will not remove existing \AECOsim folders but will instead add new \OpenBuildings folders and their accompanying sub-folder structures. For example, under \Program Files\Bentley\ there will still be an \AECOsim CONNECT Edition folder with an \AECOsimBuildingDesigner sub-folder in parallel with \OpenBuildingsDesigner: While under Program Data\Bentley\ your Configuration folder will still be located under the existing \AECOsim CONNECT Edition folder instead of \OpenBuildings: The \Datasets folder as shown is from the existing AECOsim Building Designer installation since the installer update routine does not remove nor replace it or any of its sub-folders. However, under the \Workspaces sub-folder there will be a new Workspace called Building_Examples in parallel with the existing AECOsimExamples: When following the recommended process outlined above these AECOsim folders will no longer exist, leaving only OpenBuildings which allows for a cleaner directory structure. Note: AECOsim Building Designer CONNECT Edition and OpenBuildings Designer CONNECT Edition cannot coexist on the same computer as they are sequential releases of the same application, despite the name change.

Wiki Page: Requirements for MicroStation CONNECT Edition Installation
Product(s): MicroStation Version(s): 10.XX.XX.XX Environment: N\A Area: Installation Subarea: General This text was made to give an overview of installation situations that might arise as you install MicroStation CONNECT Edition, particularly Update 6 or above. Requirements CONNECT Edition Run as Administrator When installing the product it is recommended that you always , run it as an administrator. One way to do it is to right click over the installation file and select “ Run as administrator ” Usually, that will grant you access to install the entire application into your machine. Internet download: You need to have Internet access to install MicroStation CONNECT Edition. Besides, all MicroStation CONNECT Edition versions after version update 5 have a small install file (around 2 MB) and all items are downloaded at installation time. In this matter, if you have some filters in your firewall, you will need to free those two paths: Payload Svc URL: https://payloadresolvesvc.bentley.com CDN URL: http://cdnllnw.bentley.com/* If you already have the site *.bentley.com as a filter, this will already be available. One suggestion for those that have complex or very restricted internet access is to generate a deployment image and use it for large scale installations. The wiki below explains how to generate it. https://communities.bentley.com/products/microstation/w/microstation__wiki/28704/microstation-connect---how-to-create-a-deployment-image Proxy settings: A proxy or proxy server is basically another computer which serves as a hub (bridge) through which internet requests are processed. By connecting through one of these servers, your computer sends your requests to the proxy server which then processes your request and returns what you were wanting. As you start to install MicroStation, the installation process will check internet access to download some of its components and pre-requisites. Depending upon how you access internet, you might see the screen below: This screen means that your organization has a Proxy server to access internet. So, you must enter an ID (user name) and password to get access internet . In many cases you might need to get help from your IT department to get this information. Antivirus software: There have been cases where the antivirus software blocks certain files of folders becoming impossible to install applications. In that case, it would be necessary to disable the antivirus software prior to starting installation. It might be necessary to contact your IT department to “free” or unblock the folders where MicroStation will be installed. Knowledge base missing files error: Knowledge base (KB) is usually a problem that was found on Windows and a patch or set of files were defined to fix it. So, when you get the message with KB XXXXXXX it means that a Windows update is missing. The most common is a message as you start install MicroStation “ Please install KB2999226 on your machine before initiating installation MicroStation” In that case, it means that Windows Update is missing so some required files are missing. See link below for explanation: https://communities.bentley.com/products/microstation/w/microstation__wiki/36596/error-please-install-kb2999226-on-your-machine-before-initiating-installation-microstation Be aware for any other messages of KB files missing. We recommend that you download those KB files from Microsoft. There is a message of a missing KB2803801 file. Even though the message states that there is a file missing, the problem in this case relies on Internet Access. So verify the above items “ Internet Download ” and “ Proxy Settings ” in order to fix this error. Wiki Page: How to Setup Instrument Tag to Be Unique in Project Database
Applies To Product(s): OpenPlant PID Version(s): 08.11.10.XXX (SS5) | 08.11.11.XXX (SS6) Environment: Windows 7/8.1/10 (64 bit) Area: Tag Format Subarea: Original Author: Kestutis Mitkus, Bentley Product Advantage Group Background By default Tag Uniqueness in Project with associated databases are already configured, but we have situation where user is willing to have uniqueness for Control valves same as for other Instruments. Control Valves and Instruments are Synchronized to same INSTR database table, but both classes are mapped with different TAG_TYPES, what is the cause of this situation, when Control Valves can Have same Tag names as Instruments. This article will show the user how the schema can be modified to achieve this requirement for Control Valve and Instrument classes. Steps to Accomplish Start Bentley Class Editor and Select to open Database Mapping If this option was never used then remove Existing Mapping and then Browse for your Projects Schema folder Select OK to open Mapping schema When schema is opened you can find all links to all mapped Classes on schema in right side of Class Editor. Select Control Valve. Select Control Valve in left side tree again and then it will load all Class mapping information in the right side. Click Edit button. In General section Select on existing Class Specification and click Edit button. In opened dialog Change AT_CVALVE value to AT_INST_ and accept changes. After changing Tag Type in General section and saving all changes Tag Type value is update in all queries, but on Insert section Default Colum Values still shows older Tag Type value. This should be edited and changed to Required one. Save Database Mapping changes and close all schemas Start OpenPlant PID again and test Control Valve and Discrete Instrument Tags between different models. After successful Synchronization Open INSTR Table in your database or in Data Manager and verify how Control valve and Discrete instrument has same Tag type. If Differentiating of Control Valve components is required you can use IINT1 Filed which contains Class names of each component. See Video communities.bentley.com/.../How-to-Setup-Instrument-Tag-to-Be-Unique-in-Project-Database.mp4 After such changes standard View Instrument List - Control Valves wont be listing any components because it is configured to list components using TAG_TYPE criteria AT_CVALVE This configuration can be changed by removing TAG_TYPE criteria and adding required component class in IINT1 criteria field. Full procedure with Instruction and video can be found in this wiki How to Edit Existing View and Change Criteria to List Required Components Comments or Corrections? Hi Danielle,
Right now, the installer is an online installer.
That's default mode only (and it's not exceptional, I know plenty of software that work this way). Using /layout switch you can create (as Bentley called it) deployment image that contains everything and is completely offline.
it requested a cloud licence to start the product.
It's how Bentley designed the product and I guess there is no solution. But when talking about such huge amount of users, I think somebody from Bentley should provide some best practice or solution, because I agree to manage thousands of users is quite impossible. Maybe it's fine for Bentley View to use alwyas the same "view user"? With regards, Jan

Forum Post: [LumenRT] FR:Kiosk mode
We are missing kiosk mode for LumenRT so the livecube can be left unnatended for any visitor to navigate in LiveCube and not only as animations. Ideally with touchscreen support. Idea would be that Livecube is left opened on computer and any who is interested can use it. There should be an option to reset the scene after some timeout and a button/command line option(scheduled task?) to restart the scene or run default animation after some time. Now it is more oriented to advanced users so the LiveCube needs to be shared as file and run on capable hardware but for demos it would be easier to set it as ready to use kiosk machine.
